Left in afternoon for Boston with drummer Nick Kinsey. It was cold and we talked like anyone but ourselves most of the way. Met with organist Lawson Feltman in Boston and together we tried to find our way to the bottom of huge bowls of Korean noodle soup.
Good late show at Great Scott. We were loose and that was fine. Stayed with good friend Brigham in Providence and slept in a room where we could see our breath. Woke to Kinsey telling a tale that started with the potato famine in Ireland and ended at Disneyland in California and it made perfect sense. Played a pump organ and left.
Two days in New York. First show at Mercury Lounge was crowded and we played with some good bands. Woke up at my friend’s house staring at a fox high up on the wall.
Besides being where he sleeps, it's also a taxidermy museum. Drove out to Brooklyn and dropped our tools off at union hall. Went to a friends basement in Brooklyn and made wretched silver noises with some keyboards and tin cans. That was good. Good folks came out to show in Brooklyn. Then we moved on to Philadelphia and played a small show at tin angel, where I think all I did was crack up.
Maybe we played a song or two. Got drunk and ate steaks and cheese. Amazing what kind of state people wander around in on weekend nights (I spose regular nights too). Slept in a chemical trap known as a hotel room.
Arlington, Va.
Starting to eat only meat it seems. These monuments and government buildings in D.C. look like ghosts. Perhaps homes for ghosts. Monsters to say the least. Which one does the minotaur live in? Last stand in Chapel Hill.
Rainy Monday night spent homesick. Hungry so ate at a diner called Time Out 3 times over the course of 24 hrs. Everyone should go there. Maybe they do. Had a mild out of body experience during show. Drive to airport recalculating when its possible to make a u turn and drive 784 miles to destination, New York.
