Dave Matthews Band saw its debut album, "Remember Two Things" (RCA), go platinum for shipments of 1 million copies, meaning that all the band's recordings have now achieved at least platinum status. Modern rock act Korn received its fifth gold and platinum awards for "Untouchables" (Epic), while legendary U.K. rock outfit the Who earned its 17th gold album with the recent double-disc set "The Ultimate Collection" (MCA).
Debut acts John Mayer and Avril Lavigne reached platinum status in July with "Room for Squares" (Aware/Columbia) and "Let Go" (Arista), respectively. Two other newcomers, Capitol's Dirty Vegas and Epic's Tenacious D, went gold with their self-titled debuts.
