Carrie Underwood was a big winner at the People's Choice Awards last night (Jan. 7) at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium, picking up favorite female singer, country song for "Last Name," and star under 35 years old.

"Fans and people voting for me are what gave me a career in the first place," Underwood said. "This is an amazing night."

Other winners in music categories included Kid Rock for favorite rock song for "All Summer Long" (Top Dog/Atlantic). Rascal Flatts won for favorite group, Chris Brown got best male singer and Katy Perry won best pop tune for "I Kissed a Girl" (Virgin).

Awards host Queen Latifah joined Dakota Fanning, her co-star in "The Secret Life Of Bees," to collect the best independent movie award. The ceremony aired on CBS.
