Bruce Springsteen has been confirmed to headline the U.K.'s Glastonbury Festival on June 27. The Saturday night slot was occupied by Jay-Z last year.

Springsteen's booking for the 170,000-capacity event at Worthy Farm in Somerset follows months of speculation and it is believed to be his first festival show in the U.K. He has already announced a headline appearance at Hard Rock Calling in London's Hyde Park on June 28 as part of his European tour.

"I'm so pleased that Bruce Springsteen has agreed to come to Worthy Farm for the first time," said organizer Michael Eavis in a statement. "He's one of the all-time rock legends and I'm confident that this will be one of our best shows ever."

Tickets have sold out, although a limited number of canceled transactions will result in a further sale on April 5.

The full line-up will be announced nearer the festival itself, although Franz Ferdinand is one of the acts to independently confirm their inclusion on the bill. The other rumored headliners are reformed U.K. rock act Blur and Neil Young.

Springsteen will perform in North America starting in April, supporting his newest effort "Working on a Dream."
