Pixies Getting Reissue Treatment With 'Minotaur' Box Sets

The Pixies' forthcoming "Minotaur" box sets feature the group's five studio albums.

The Pixies studio catalog will be released in a pair of box sets in June, though neither will feature remastered sound and the bonus track situation is still up in the air.

Both of the collections, due out June 15, will be titled "Minotaur" and feature the influential modern rock quartet's five studio releases -- the "Come on Pilgrim" EP (1987), "Surfer Rosa" (1988), "Doolittle" (1989), "Bossanova" (1990) and "Trome Le Monde" (1991).

Both versions of the set were designed by Vaughan Oliver and Simon Larbalestier, who handled artwork for the rest of the Pixies catalog. The Deluxe Edition of "Minotaur" will retail for $175 and comes with the titles on combined 24k CDs and Blu-Ray along with a bonus DVD featuring the Pixies' 1991 concert at the Brixton Academy in England as well as all of their videos and a 54-page book. The Limited Edition version of the box set lists for $450 and also includes 180 gram vinyl version of the five studio releases, a 72-page hardcover book and a Giclee print by Oliver. The latter will be packaged in an oversized custom clamshell.

A+R (Artist in Residence), which is releasing the "Minotaur" collections, is considering bonus tracks but hasn't decided if any will be included. The sets are available for pre-order at the company's web site, ainr.com.
