U.K. rapper Lady Sovereign has inked a global deal with EMI for her
own Midget Records imprint, and will release her new album,
"Jigsaw," on April 9. A new track, "I Got You Dancing," is
available for free on the artist's MySpace site.
"The album is the next chapter. It's a massive leap forward for
mankind," Lady Sovereign says.
The rapper made a splash in 2005 with the EP "Vertically
Challenged," released in North America by Chocolate Industries. She
then jumped to Def Jam for the following year's "Public Warning,"
which has sold 125,000 copies in the United States, according to
Nielsen SoundScan.
That album's single, "Love Me or Hate Me," has sold more than
427,000 digital downloads.
