Kelly Clarkson spends a second week on top of the Billboard 200.
It's a hold-steady kind of week on the Billboard 200 as Kelly Clarkson's "All I Ever Wanted" (S/19/RCA) remains at No. 1 for a second frame, shifting 90,000 (down 65%). U2's "No Line on the Horizon" (Island/Interscope/IGA) moves up one slot to No. 2 with 76,000 (down 42%) while the-Dream's "Love Vs. Money" (Radio Killa/Def Jam) slides down two positions to No. 4 with 56,000 (down 63%) in its second week.
The "Twilight" soundtrack (Summit/Chop Shop/Atlantic) rebounds to No. 3 with 74,000 (up 251%) after the set was relaunched March 17 with five bonus tracks and a DVD with interviews and music videos. The timing of the reissue coincides with the DVD bow of the hit film on Saturday, March 21. Summit Home Entertainment, which released the "Twilight" DVD, announced that it sold 3 million copies of the movie in its first day of release.
The chart's highest debut comes from rapper Gorilla Zoe, who enters with his sophomore set, "Don't Feed Da Animals" (Block/Bad Boy South), at No. 8 with 31,000. The artist's first effort, 2007's "Welcome to the Zoo," debuted and peaked at No. 18 with a 35,000 entrance. Over on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, "Animals" starts at No. 2, giving the rapper his second top 10 on that list.
Rap combo Twiztid reaches a new chart high with its seventh studio album "W.I.C.K.E.D." (Psychopathic) at No. 11, shifting 23,000 units. The Decemberists' "The Hazards of Love" (Capitol) starts at No. 14 with 19,000 following its early exclusive release through iTunes and on 180-gram vinyl in select indie stores. Today (March 24) the set became available in all standard physical and digital formats.
The rest of the top 10 is a tad static: Lady GaGa's "The Fame" (Streamline/KonLive/Cherrytree/Interscope) climbs one notch to No. 5 with 50,000 (up 8%), Taylor Swift's "Fearless" (Big Machine) slips one slot to No. 6 with 47,000 (down 9%), Nickelback's "Dark Horse" (Roadrunner) stays put at No. 7 with 34,000 (down 7%), Beyonce's "I Am ... Sasha Fierce" (Music World/Columbia) slides down one position to No. 9 with 27,000 (down 5%) and Jamie Foxx's "Intuition" (J) drops one rung to No. 10 with 24,000 (down 10%).
Overall album sales in this past chart week (ending March 22) totaled 6.14 million units, down 7% compared to the sum last week (6.63 million) and down 31% compared to the same sales week of 2008 (8.84 million). Year to date album sales stand at 83.6 million, down 14% compared to the same total at this point last year (96.8 million).
