DMB Tour Launching In Tandem With New Album

by Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.  |   December 15, 2008 5:21 EST
Dave Matthews Band will launch its spring tour April 14 at New York's Madison Square Garden, the same day its new studio album arrives from RCA. The as-yet-untitled set is being produced by Rob Cavallo.

A number of songs have been played live since the summer of 2007, including "Round and Round," "Cornbread," "#27" and "Falling Off the Roof," but it is unknown if they will appear on the upcoming project.

Support acts include the Roots, Old Crow Medicine Show, the Avett Brothers and Jason Mraz. DMB will be joined on tour and in the studio by longtime guitarist Tim Reynolds, trumpeter Rashawn Ross and saxophonist Jeff Coffin, who has been filling in since the untimely death of original member LeRoi Moore in August.

The new album is the follow-up to 2004's "Stand Up," which has sold 1.5 milion copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. DMB tomorrow (Dec. 16) releases "Live at Mile High," a two-CD set chronicling a July 20 show in Commerce City, Colo.
