Jimmy Eat World Revisiting 'Clarity' On Tour

Comments

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of its 1999 album "Clarity," Jimmy Eat World will perform the set in its entirety at 10 shows early next year. The dates begin Feb. 23 in New York and wrap March 7 in Tempe, Ariz.

"Clarity" was the band's second major-label album, following 1996's under-the-radar "Static Prevails." The set debuted at No. 30 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart but vanished from the tally two weeks later, spelling an end to Jimmy Eat World's association with Capitol.

But over time "Clarity" has become something of a classic for a younger generation of rock fans, inadvertently jump-starting the commercial ascent of the so-called "emo" subgenre by bands such as Yellowcard and Dashboard Confessional.

Of course, Jimmy Eat World promptly went onto platinum success with its 2001 Interscope debut, "Bleed American," which spawned the multi-format hit "The Middle."

Support for the 2009 shows will come from Reuben's Accomplice for the first seven dates and the reunited San Diego band No Knife for the final three. Tickets begin going on sale Thursday (Nov. 13).

Here are Jimmy Eat World's tour dates:

Feb. 23: New York (Terminal 5)
Feb. 24: Washington, D.C. (9:30 Club)
Feb. 25: Philadelphia (Trocadero)
Feb. 26: Boston (House of Blues)
Feb. 28: Chicago (Metro)
March 2: Denver (Ogden Theatre)
March 4: San Francisco (Fillmore)
March 6: San Diego (House of Blues)
March 7: Tempe, Ariz. (Marquee Theatre)
