Ultravox Reuniting For 2009 Tour

Comments

U.K. pop/rock outfit Ultravox's 1980s lineup will reunite for a 2009 tour, marking this version of the band's first performance since Live Aid in 1985.

According to Ultravox.org.uk, drummer Warren Cann, bassist Chris Cross, violinist/keyboardist Billy Currie and guitarist/vocalist Midge Ure will play 14 dates beginning April 10 in Edinburgh. For now, the itinerary is limited to the United Kingdom.

Ultravox enjoyed its biggest success under the leadership of Ure, who replaced original frontman Dennis Leigh (aka John Foxx) in 1979. His first album with the group, "Vienna," spawned top 10 U.K. hits in the form of the title track and "All Stood Still."

The band achieved U.S. acclaim with 1982's "Quartet," produced by George Martin, starting a run of success that included later hits such as "Love's Great Adventure" and "Dancing With Tears in My Eyes."

Cann left Ultravox in 1986 and the band split two years later, although it reformed without Ure in 1992.

Here are Ultravox's U.K. tour dates:
