The Von Bondies Ink With Majordomo

Comments

After months of searching, the Von Bondies have finally found a home. The Detroit rock group has signed to Majordomo Records, a division of Shout Factory, and will release its third album, "Love, Hate, and Then There's You," on Feb. 3.

Produced by Rick Parker, Peter Katis, Sean O'Keefe, and Butch Walker, the album is the follow-up to the band's 2004 Warner Bros. disc "Pawn Shoppe Heart," which spawned the breakout single "C'mon C'mon."

Stollsteimer and Blum personally financed the recording of "Love, Hate, and Then There's You," and the band has played several European shows this year in anticipation of its release.

Majordomo is also home to Earlimart and the Airbourne Toxic Event. "This label has a lot of fresh ideas," drummer Don Blum said. "We would have signed a lot sooner," added singer-songwriter Jason Stollsteimer, "but it took us four years to find a pen."

The Von Bondies will also tour the U.S. this fall and into 2009, beginning Oct. 27 in Cambridge, Mass. Album cut "Pale Bride" will follow Nov. 18 as a 7-inch vinyl single.

"We're not looking for a big thing," Stollsteimer explained to Billboard.com earlier this year. "It doesn't make sense for us to be on a major. Majors are for bands that sell 500,000 to a million records. We're happy selling 100,000; we're proud of that."
