Busta Rhymes Shifts To Universal Motown

Comments

Busta Rhymes has joined Universal Motown after quietly leaving Interscope earlier this year. His upcoming album, previously called "Blessed," is now titled "B.O.M.B." and is slated for Dec. 9, a label spokesperson confirms.

In July, 50 Cent's website, Thisis50.com, reported Rhymes was dropped from Aftermath/Interscope, but neither Rhymes nor the label confirmed it.

Rhymes broke his silence last weekend on New York radio station Hot 97, telling listeners, "Me and [Dr.] Dre are still good, even though I'm not in business with Aftermath or Interscope."

Rhymes went on to explain that "B.O.M.B" stands for "Back on my Bullsh*t" and his newly leaked single is called "Arab Money." "I just want the world to know it's official," said Rhymes.

Rhymes released his first four albums via Elektra Records, previously headed by Sylvia Rhone, who now leads Universal Motown. Two sets for J followed, with his lone Aftermath album, "The Big Bang," arriving in 2006. It has sold 611,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Most recently, Rhymes released "We Made It" with Linkin Park, which peaked at No. 65 on the Hot 100 but has sold 189,000 downloads.
