Byrne/Eno Album 'Happening' Next Month

Comments

As tipped here earlier this month, David Byrne and Brian Eno are self-releasing their first album in 27 years. "Everything That Happens Will Happen Today" will be available Aug. 18 exclusively through EverythingThatHappens.com.

A free download of an as-yet-unnamed track can be found on the site beginning Aug. 4. In addition, "Happens" will be available as an enhanced CD at some point in the future.

The pair's follow-up to 1981's landmark "My Life in the Bush of Ghosts" leans heavy on Byrne's lyrics and vocals. "When we started this work, we started to think we were making something like electronic gospel: a music where singing was the central event, but whose sonic landscapes were not the type normally associated with that way of singing," Eno says.

Byrne is touring in support of the album this fall, with the repertoire to feature new songs plus selections from the Talking Heads' period of collaboration with Eno in the late 1970s and early '80s.

Here is the track list for "Everything That Happens Will Happen Today":

"Home"
"My Big Nurse"
"I Feel My Stuff"
"Everything That Happens"
"Life Is Long"
"The River"
"Strange Overtones"
"Wanted For Life"
"One Fine Day"
"Poor Boy"
"The Lighthouse"
