Metallica Confirms New Album Track List

Comments

Metallica has confirmed the track list for its upcoming album, "Death Magnetic," due in September via Warner Bros.

The one title sure to set off discussion among Metallica faithful is "The Unforgiven III." The original song appeared on the band's famed 1991 "Black Album," while "The Unforgiven II" surfaced on 1997's "Reload."

Other song names seem to extend Metallica's traditional dark and gloomy vibe, from "Cyanide" and "My Apocalypse" to "Broken, Beat & Scarred" and "Suicide & Redemption."

"Death Magnetic" is the follow-up to 2003's "St. Anger," which has sold 1.76 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Metallica has three European dates on tap in the next week before returning Stateside for the Aug. 9 Ozzfest in Dallas. At that gig, guitarist Kirk Hammett will join Slayer's Kerry King, Alice In Chains' Jerry Cantrell and Anthrax's Scott Ian in a tribute to late Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell Abbott, who was murdered on stage in Columbus, Ohio, in 2004.

Here is the track list for "Death Magnetic":

"That Was Just Your Life"
"The End of the Line"
"Broken, Beat & Scarred"
"The Day That Never Comes"
"All Nightmare Long"
"Cyanide"
"The Unforgiven III"
"The Judas Kiss"
"Suicide & Redemption"
"My Apocalypse"
