Fatboy Slim Pulls Into Brighton Port Authority

Comments

Fatboy Slim gets a lift from Iggy Pop, David Byrne, Dizzee Rascal, Martha Wainwright and Ashley Beedle on the debut album from his new project, the Brighton Port Authority. A racy video for the Byrne- and Rascal-featuring "Toe Jam" hit the Web this week.

THE BPA 'TOE JAM' FEAT. DAVID BYRNE & DIZZEE RASCAL

Brighton Port Authority's MySpace page reveals the fictional back-story of the group, which purportedly "built a huge word-of-mouth reputation on England's south coast from the early 1970s onwards before petering out in the mid '90s."

The BPA's debut album, on which Fatboy Slim appears under his given name of Norman Cook, is further presented as having been culled from a series of tapes found in a cardboard box at "Brighton dockside warehouse."

A release date for the collection has yet to be announced, but "Toe Jam" will be out digitally July 7 via Cook's Southern Fried label.

Elsewhere, Pop sings on a cover of '70s U.K. rock outfit the Monochrome Set's "He's Frank" on the album, while Wainwright guests on the "dubbed-out" "Spade" and Beedle appears on "Should I Stay or Should I Blow."
