Girl Talk fans should keep their eyes on the Internet over the next few weeks, as it will be the only place to obtain his new album in the short term.

Girl Talk mainman Greg Gillis tells Billboard.com he will release "Feed the Animals," a 55-minute album featuring more than 300 samples, in a pay-what-you want format a la Radiohead's "In Rainbows" via his label Illegal Art's Web site. A physical CD will available sometime in the next few months.

"This project has always been about embracing pop," Gillis says. "I feel like the source material on this record has more in-your-face classics. Because of that, it's more over the top."

Gillis says "Feed the Animals" has been developed around his live set, something that's been ever evolving over the last two years. "For the final editing process, I probably worked eight hours a day, Monday through Friday, for about 3 months," he reports. "I worked very hard to make it sound like I didn't work hard."

In comparison to 2006's acclaimed "Night Ripper," Gillis describes "Feed the Animals" as being "smoother" while experimenting with tempos: "There are parts with edits more detailed than anything on 'Night Ripper,' but overall, I spent time focusing on a particular source song for longer periods of time, rather than jumping from song source to song source as quickly as possible."

Currently, a fall tour is in the works, but Girl Talk will play sporadic headlining shows this summer, along with scheduled appearances at Seattle's Capitol Hill Block Party in July, as well as the Lollapalooza and All Points West festivals.
