Shania Twain, 'Mutt' Lange To Split

Comments

Country superstar Shania Twain and her mega-producer husband, Robert "Mutt" Lange, are separating after 14 years of marriage, according to Twain's spokesperson at Universal Music Group Nashville.

"This is a private matter and there will be no further comment at this time," the label said.

The couple have a son, Eja D'Angelo (pronounced "Asia") who was born on Aug. 12, 2001. Twain is 42 and the intensely private Lange is 59.

Twain has sold 33.6 million albums in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan. While Lange did not produce her first Mercury record in 1993, he has produced everything since, and the couple have collaborated on virtually all of Twain's hits.

The label would not comment on whether or not Lange will be involved in Twain's next project, which is expected next year.

With 15.5 million, Twain's "Come on Over" is the biggest selling album in the U.S. since Nielsen SoundScan started in 1991.

Lange has also produced albums for Def Leppard, AC/DC, Foreigner and Bryan Adams, among others.
