Mariah's Got The 'Touch' With 18th No. 1

Comments

As tipped here yesterday, Mariah Carey scores her 18th No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 this week as "Touch My Body" rockets 15-1. Download sales of 286,000 units, according to Nielsen SoundScan, top the previous record set by Rihanna's "Umbrella," which shifted 277,000 last June.

Carey surpasses Elvis Presley for second place on the all-time Hot 100 No. 1 tally; only the Beatles, with 20, have more. "Touch My Body" knocks last week's chart-topper, Leona Lewis' "Bleeding Love," down to No. 4.

Usher's "Love in This Club" featuring Young Jeezy holds at No. 2, while, as reported yesterday, Madonna's "4 Minutes" featuring Justin Timberlake explodes 68-3, fueled by download sales of 217,000 copies.

Jordin Sparks' "No Air" featuring Chris Brown inches up 6-5 on the Hot 100, and Ray J & Yung Berg's "Sexy Can I" slips 3-6. Lil Wayne's "Lollipop" is the fastest growing track at radio, resulting in a 9-7 increase.

Chris Brown's "With You" drops 4-8, Sara Bareilles' "Love Song" falls 5-9 and Flo Rida's "Low" featuring T-Pain is down 7-10 to round out the top tier.

The Hot 100's top debut this week comes from Fall Out Boy's cover of Michael Jackson's "Beat It" at No. 22. The track, which features John Mayer on guitar and can be found on the band's new live CD/DVD "Live in Phoenix," sold 88,000 downloads.

Also new this week is Nelly's "Party People" featuring Fergie at No. 54, Plies' "Bust It Baby (Part 2)" featuring Ne-Yo at No. 55 and Disturbed's "Inside the Fire" at No. 73.

On Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs tally, "Love in This Club" leapfrogs Keyshia Cole's "I Remember" 2-1, becoming Usher's ninth chart-topper here. Trace Adkins scores his third No. 1 on Hot Country Songs with "You're Gonna Miss This."

But there's still no change on Billboard's rock charts, with Foo Fighters' "Long Road To Ruin" No. 1 on Modern Rock for a seventh week and Puddle Of Mudd's "Psycho" leading Mainstream Rock for an eighth. The Disturbed track opens at No. 5 on the latter chart.
