Billboard Bits: Ciara, CMT Awards, Big Boi

Comments

Ciara is currently squeezing in studio time for her third as-yet-untitled album, tentatively slated for either August or early September. The songstress has already garnered tracks from DanjaHandz, the Clutch, Polow Da Don and T-Pain.

Ciara is also still filming her lead role in the upcoming Codeblack Entertainment film adaptation of the stage play, "Mama, I Want to Sing." The film co-stars Patti LaBelle and is expected to hit theaters later this year.

Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, LeAnn Rimes, Keith Urban and Brooks & Dunn have been added to the lineup for the 2008 CMT Music Awards, which will be held April 14.

Previously announced performers include Carrie Underwood, Sugarland, Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Toby Keith, Alan Jackson and Taylor Swift. Co-hosts Billy Ray Cyrus and Miley Cyrus, whose single "Ready, Set, Don't Go" recently peaked at No. 4 on Hot Country Songs, will also perform on the show.

The show will air live from Nashville's Curb Event Center at Belmont University on CMT and CMT.com.

Outkast MC Big Boi is partnering with the Atlanta Ballet for a performance dubbed "Big." The production will fuse the Atlanta Ballet's dancing with Big Boi's music and will feature guest appearances by Sleepy Brown, Big Rube, Scar, Joi Killiam, Khujo Goodie and Bad Boy's newest artist, Janelle Monae.

The show will interweave new and unreleased music from Big Boi with Giuseppe Verdi's "La Traviata." The piece runs April 10-13 at Atlanta's Fox Theatre and following opening night, Big Boi's Big Kidz Foundation and the Atlanta Ballet Centre For Dance Education will hold a fundraiser hosted by the MC and Queen Latifah.

Founded in 1929, Atlanta Ballet is the longest, continuously operating ballet company in the United States. Big Boi is currently recording his first, as-yet-untitled solo album.
