Gnarls Barkley Edits Video For U.K. Airplay

Comments

Gnarls Barkley's "Run" video is safely on the air in the U.K. after initially failing the Harding Test -- guidelines established to prevent TV images from triggering epileptic seizures.

The problem was the clip's strobe effects, and group member Cee-Lo Green says Gnarls had no problem making some edits to ensure airplay. The unedited clip has been airing on the U.S. edition of MTV since late last week.

"It seemed justifiable to hesitate a bit to make sure it didn't result in something severe," he tells Billboard.com. "We just focused on any compromise we could come to. We didn't get too agitated -- we just concentrated our focus on how we could resolve the problem."

"Run" centers around the fictional public access TV show "City Vibin'" and is set in the early '90s. Justin Timberlake appears as the host of the program, on which Green and fellow Gnarls Barkley principal Danger Mouse perform the track.

With its new album, "The Odd Couple," nearing its April 8 release date via Downtown/Atlantic, Gnarls Barkley are about to shoot a video for the second single, "Who's Gonna Save My Soul."

The group is also confirmed to appear April 12 on NBC's "Saturday Night Live."
