DMB Debuting New Songs On Summer Tour

Comments

Spring may be on its way, but Dave Matthews Band already has its eyes set on summer. The rock troupe's three-month summer tour will begin May 30-31 outside Pittsburgh, and will feature material from its next studio album, to be produced by Rob Cavallo.

DMB has finished pre-production for the project and hit the studio this week to begin recording with Cavallo. The album will also feature contributions from longtime collaborator Tim Reynolds, whose last guest appearance on a DMB studio effort was 1998's "Before These Crowded Streets."

The band hasn't released a new studio album since 2005's "Stand Up," which bowed at the summit of The Billboard 200.

Fan club members can participate in a tour pre-sale starting at noon today (March 6), while the general public can purchase beginning March 29. Opening acts for the trek include Willie Nelson, the Black Crowes, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, O.A.R., Michael Franti and Spearhead, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Paolo Nutini, Gomez and Ingrid Michaelson.

The eco-friendly band will also continue to work with Reverb, the organization that has helped "green" tours by DMB and other major acts of late. "We're talking to the organizers about ways of taking our efforts even further than last year," bassist Stefan Lessard says.

Before the summer dates, Matthews and Reynolds are set to perform at Jack Johnson's fifth annual Kokua Festival in Hawaii April 19-20. They are also slated for an April 11 benefit concert for the Dalai Lama/Seeds of Compassion in Seattle.
