Winehouse Won't Face Charge, Cops Say

Comments

Amy Winehouse's run of good fortune has continued with the news today (Feb. 29) that the singer will not face charges in connection with her husband's alleged attempt to pervert the course of justice.

The singer, who scooped five trophies at the 50th annual Grammy Awards earlier this month, is no longer a suspect in the ongoing case, police said. She had originally been interviewed on the matter in December, before going into rehab for drug and alcohol-related issues.

Winehouse's husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, is charged with trying to pervert the course of justice and inflicting grievous bodily harm.

In a statement issued today by her representatives, Winehouse is reportedly "pleased to be discounted from the investigation and thanks the police for their professionalism in their dealings with her."

After her big night at the Feb. 10 Grammys, Winehouse's "Back to Black" rocketed 24-2 on The Billboard 200, selling 115,000 copies, up almost 370% week-on-week.

Following her appearance performing live at the Feb. 20 Brit Awards, the "Deluxe Edition" of "Back To Black" soared 14-2 on this week's Official U.K. Albums Chart, selling more than 30,000 copies.
