An ailing back has forced Dolly Parton to postpone her U.S. tour, which was due to begin Feb. 28 in Minneapolis. Parton has been ordered to rest for six to eight weeks; she is hoping to reschedule the dates for late April and May.
Parton's European tour, due to begin June 13 in Stockholm and run through a July 5-6 run at London's O2 Arena, is still on the books, according to Parton's publicist.
Among the scrapped U.S. dates is a March 14 show at Austin Music Hall as part of the South by Southwest festival, which was already one of the more buzzed-about shows of the event.
Parton's new album, "Backwoods Barbie," arrives Feb. 26 on her own Dolly Records label.
"I know I have been breaking my neck and bending over backwards trying to get my new 'Backwoods Barbie' CD and world tour together, but I didn't mean to hurt myself doing it!," Parton says in a statement. "But hey, you try wagging these puppies around a while and see if you don't have back problems. Seriously though, the doctors said I will be good as new in a few weeks, and I can't wait to get back out there."
