Beatles, Costello Seep Into New Jonas Bros. CD

Comments

The Jonas Brothers are putting the touches on their third album, an as-yet-untitled affair that's due out July 8 via Hollywood, according to Nick Jonas.

The youngest of the three brothers tells Billboard.com that the new material "is the same Jonas Brothers sound, but with just a couple more influences. We have some more Elvis Costello-type influences on it. There's a song called 'Be Be Good' which is definitely an Animals, Rascals type of influence and obviously, of course, the Beatles."

Jonas adds that "the lyrical content has gotten a little more in-depth as far as who we are as people and our personal lives, with our dating and all that, things we've gone through in the past year. We were really able to put it into song and make it a really cool record."

The trio from New Jersey returned to producer John Fields for the follow-up to this year's platinum "Jonas Brothers," recording some of it on the Gibson Tour Bus. "A couple of guitar and bass tracks got recorded on the bus while it was actually rolling," Jonas reports.

The group plans to play four of its new songs during the headlining tour that kicks off Saturday in Atlanta -- "Don't Take My Heart and Put it On the Shelf," "Burning Up," "Pushing Me Away" and "A Little Bit Longer," the latter of which Nick wrote about his struggle with diabetes.

The album is only one of the Jonas Brothers' endeavors for 2008, however. The group is featured in the 3-D film from the recent Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus Best of Both Worlds tour, which opens nationwide on Feb. 1. The trio's first movie, "Camp Rock," is expected to premiere in September on the Disney Channel, while the brothers are hoping that the Hollywood writer's strike is settled in time for them to start work on their Disney Channel show, "J.O.N.A.S.! (Junior Operative Networking As Spies)," in the fall.

"But we will be touring now and then during the summer, so it will be kind of a nice thing to be able to do that after," Jonas says of the action-adventure series. "We're kind of just continuing to say, 'This is just the beginning, guys. We've got to keep working hard, keep busting our butts and trying make it go one step further.' It is just the beginning for us."
