Webbie's Next 'Life' Due In Late February

Comments

Webbie, who co-wrote and guested on the ubiquitous rap track "Wipe Me Down" last year, will release his next album, "Savage Life 2," Feb. 26 via Trill Entertainment/Asylum/Atlantic.

The disc will feature appearances by Bun B, Young Dro, Birdman, Lil Boosie and Foxx. Its first single, "Independent" featuring Lil Phat and Lil Boosie, is No. 11 this week on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Webbie is planning a national promotional tour beginning in late January or early February.

After signing to Louisiana's Trill Entertainment (launched by Mel, Turk and the late Pimp C in 2003), Webbie initially garnered national attention with his 2005 single "Give Me That" featuring Bun B. The song peaked at No. 8 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs tally.

"Savage Life" has sold 339,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Last year's "Trill Entertainment Presents: Survival of the Fittest" compilation, on which Webbie appears with Lil Boosie, Foxx, Shell, Soulja Boy, Lil Phat, Big Head and Mousem has sold 130,000 copies to date.
