Kenny G Goes Latin For Starbucks Debut

Comments

Veteran instrumentalist Kenny G has signed a new deal with Starbucks Entertainment and Concord Records, which will be inaugurated with the album "Rhythm and Romance" early next year. The set of Latin love songs will be available Feb. 5 at Starbucks locations and traditional retail stores.

Kenny G is backed on the album by such acclaimed Latin musicians as drummer Alex Acuna, percussionists Michito Sanchez and Paulino Da Costa, bassist John Penia and guitarist Ramon Stagnaro. Camila and Barbara Munoz contribute vocals throughout.

"To have the opportunity to play with these amazing musicians has allowed my music to grow in ways I have never expected," G says in a statement.

The artist had recorded for Arista since his 1982 self-titled debut. His final release for the label was 2006's "I'm In the Mood for Love -- The Most Romantic Melodies of All Time," which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Contemporary Jazz chart.

Kenny G will begin a tour in support of the new album Jan. 18 in San Diego. Dates are on tap through March 26 in Miami.
