John Mayer has unveiled the lineup for his Mayercraft Carrier cruise, which sails Feb. 1 from Miami to Freeport, Bahamas. Among the performers are Soulive, Colbie Caillat, the Bomb Squad, Brandi Carlile, Teddy Thompson, DJ Logic, Martin Sexton and David Ryan Harris.

VH1 will be on the ship filming a segment of its show "Best Week Ever," while environmental organization Reverb will ensure the proceedings will be carbon offset.

The Sixthman-organized cruise follows in the footsteps of events anchored by Lynyrd Skynyrd, Barenaked Ladies and Sister Hazel. In early February, the company is also producing Cayamo: A Journey Through Song, featuring Lyle Lovett and Emmylou Harris.

Howlin' Rain, the side project of Comets On Fire frontman Ethan Miller, has been signed by Rick Rubin to American Recordings. The group's sophomore set, "Magnificent Fiend," will be released on the label in conjunction with Birdman Records in spring 2008.

The rock trio issued an eight-song, self-released album in May via Birdman and previously supported Queens Of The Stone Age on tour. The group is scheduled to perform a pair of shows in its native California later this week before departing on tour to Europe.

Psych-rock troupe Comets On Fire last released "Avatar" (Sub Pop) in 2006.
