Jones Hits The Big Screen With Law, Portman

Norah Jones will make her crossover to film in 2008 as the star of Chinese director Wong Kar Wai's new film, "My Blueberry Nights." Jones will also contribute the opening number to the film, "The Story," which will be featured on the Blue Note soundtrack, due Feb. 5.

Arriving Feb. 13 in U.S. theaters, Kar Wai's English debut tells the story of a woman (Jones) who takes a cross-country journey in attempt to escape her past. Jude Law, David Strathairn, Rachel Weisz and Natalie Portman also star.

The soundtrack to "My Blueberry Nights" features an original composition by Ry Cooder as well as previously released music from Cat Power (whose Chan Marshall cameos in the film), Otis Redding and Cassandra Wilson. among others.

Meanwhile, Jones' stark rendition of Gene Scheer's "American Anthem," recorded for the Ken Burns PBS documentary "The War," was serviced to radio yesterday (Nov. 11) in honor of Veteran's Day.
