R. Kelly Drafts Cole, Holiday, Ne-Yo For Tour

Comments

R&B acts R. Kelly, Keyshia Cole, J. Holiday and Ne-Yo will join forces for a star-studded U.S. fall tour, beginning Nov. 14 at the Columbus Civic Center in Columbus, Ga., and wrapping Jan. 13 at a venue to be announced.

The 40-date arena trek follows Kelly's most recent studio album, "Double Up," which debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 in June. The Jive set, Kelly's sixth No. 1 album, has moved 867,000 units in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Kelly last toured in spring 2006 under the name Mr. Show Biz as part of the Light It Up Tour, which found the artist backed by a live band. Prior to that, Kelly hadn't mounted a major U.S. tour since the premature collapse of his fall 2004 Best of Both Worlds outing with Jay-Z, resulting in multiple lawsuits.

Kelly had to receive special permission to tour in light of his upcoming trial in Chicago on child pornography charges.

Washington, D.C.-based vocalist J. Holiday will use the upcoming tour to promote "Back of My Lac'" which was released Tuesday (Oct. 2) via Music Line/Capitol. Ne-Yo, who will support his Def Jam set "Because of You," currently has concert dates scheduled through early November in Los Angeles (Wiltern Theatre); Orlando, Fla. (University of Central Florida); Poughkeepsie, N.Y. (Mid-Hudson Civic Center); Huntington, W.Va. (Big Sandy Superstore Arena); and Pine Bluff, Ark. (University of Arkansas).
