Britney Confirms VMA Performance, Mobile Deal

Comments

Britney Spears has made good on weeks of speculation by confirming she will open the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards in Las Vegas on Sunday (Sept. 9). Spears will perform her new song "Gimme More" as well as the yet-to-be-unveiled "Cry" with the assistance of illusionist Criss Angel.

Afterward, fans can purchase ringtones for "Gimme More" and its oft-repeated opening line ("It's Britney, b*tch") exclusively via MTV Mobile for two days. MTV Mobile will also simulcast the VMAs.

Based on just more than three days of airplay, "Gimme More" will debut tomorrow at No. 55 on the Billboard Pop 100 chart. The as-yet-untitled album from which it will be drawn is due Nov. 13 via Jive.

In other VMA news, the Foo Fighters will perform with a host of rock titans on the show, including Queens Of The Stone Age's Josh Homme and Troy Van Leeuwen, System Of A Down's Serj Tankian and members of Mastodon.
