Ronson, Kaiser Chiefs Lord Over Electric Proms

Comments

The BBC has revealed the first names among the 80 acts that will be performing at the second Electric Proms festival in London. DJ and remixer Mark Ronson and Leeds band Kaiser Chiefs have been confirmed for this year's event, which runs Oct. 24-28 at eight venues in Camden, North London.

Ronson will perform reworked tracks from his "Version" album alongside the BBC Concert Orchestra, with special guests including Lily Allen, Terry Hall, Santo Gold, Candie Payne and Tim Burgess.

Kaiser Chiefs will team up with Grammy-winner David Arnold, known for his work scoring James Bond films. He will be taking a new approach to the arrangement and performance of the band's songs. Both acts will stage "unique collaborative performances" at the Roundhouse and the results will be broadcast across the BBC's TV and radio networks and online.

Other acts include Japanese jazz band Soil & "Pimp" Sessions performing with U.K. jazz pianist Jamie Cullum, and Iceland's Sigur Ros, who will play an acoustic set and present the U.K. premiere of their film, "Heima."

There will also be a celebration of the work of the late folk musician Lal Waterson, with performances of her songs by her siblings Norma and Mike Waterson, as well as her niece Eliza Carthy and brother-in-law Martin Carthy.

The U.K. broadcaster launched the five-day festival last year with a mandate to stage new performances and one-off collaborations. A live outing of "The Good, The Bad and The Queen," Damon Albarn's latest album project, was the centerpiece of the inaugural Electric Proms.
