Having split with Columbia, Danish rock duo the Raveonettes have signed a new U.S. record deal with 429 Records, Billboard.com can reveal. The group's new album, "Lust Lust Lust" will arrive Oct. 9. A three-week North American tour will begin the following day in Brooklyn, N.Y.
As for the material found on the follow-up to 2005's "Pretty in Black," frontman Sune Rose Wagner promises change is in the air. "This record is quite different from the other ones because it's a quite personal album," he told Billboard.com earlier this month. "It's written a lot in first person, whereas some of the other albums have been more fictitious stories and stuff. This is all based on personal experiences."
Bono, Joe Cocker and actress Evan Rachel Wood put their own spins on classic Beatles songs in the upcoming musical film "Across the Universe" and its soundtrack, due Sept. 18 via Interscope. The film opens four days earlier in select theaters.
In the film. The main characters (Wood and Jim Sturgess) navigate the political tumult of the 1960s against the backdrop of 33 Beatles tunes, including "All My Loving," "Let It Be," "Something," "Oh Darling," "Helter Skelter," "Strawberry Fields," "Happiness Is A Warm Gun" and "Hey Jude." Bono sings "I Am the Walrus" and "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds, and also portrays the character Dr. Robert in the movie. Cocker sings "Come Together," while Wood takes on "Blackbird."
The score and soundtrack were overseen by composer Elliot Goldenthal along with T Bone Burnett and Teese Gohl.
Having recently hit No. 2 on the U.K. singles chart with "Foundations," newcomer Kate Nash will release a digital EP named after and featuring that track on Sept. 4 via Geffen. The release also includes "Caroline's a Victim," the B-sides "Navy Taxi" and "Habanera" and a video for "Foundations."
Nash's debut album, "Made of Bricks," debuted at No. 1 on the U.K. chart earlier this month. The set will be released early next year in North America.
Later this month, Nash will play two U.S. shows: Sept. 25 at Joe's Pub in New York and the following night at Luna Lounge in Brooklyn.
