The Cure Postpones Fall North American Tour

Comments

Having already pushed back the release of its next album from fall until spring 2008, the Cure has now scrapped its planned fall North American tour as well. The dates will be made up in April and May of next year, according to a post on the band's Web site.

"The schedule as it stands only gives us a couple of weeks to finish our new double album before we hit the road again, and we know this just isn't enough time to complete the project to our total satisfaction," the band says.

In addition, the Robert Smith-led band says it wants to "remodel/rework the live show for North America, change things around, incorporate new songs ... and we need time and focus to do this."

Tickets for the planned shows, which were to begin Sept. 13 in Tampa, Fla., will be honored for the make-up dates. Refunds are also availability at points of purchase. The Cure will still play the Download Festival in San Francisco on Oct. 6, the MTV Latin Music Awards on Oct. 18 and three shows in Mexico City on Oct. 20-22.

"By this point we feel sure we will have finished the new album, and will be more than happy to start dropping a fresh song or three into the set each night," the band says.
