Winehouse Postpones Fall North American Tour

Comments

In the wake of recent personal issues, Amy Winehouse has postponed her fall North American tour dates. The move is being chalked up to "the rigors involved in touring," according to a statement from her American label, Universal.

"Amy has been ordered to rest and is working with medical professionals to address her health," it reads. The North American run with Paolo Nutini, which was supposed to begin Sept. 8 in Toronto, will likely be rescheduled in early 2008, but ticket holders can obtain refunds at points of purchase.

For now, Winehouse's European and U.K. itinerary in October and November is still on the books and is slated to get underway Oct. 22 in Amsterdam.

The artist has been one of the biggest breakout successes of 2007 thanks to her album "Back to Black," which has sold 1.027 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

But in recent days, health problems have forced her to scrap a handful of European and U.K. shows, including two support slots for the Rolling Stones. Her U.K. label, Island, has refused to comment on reports that Winehouse suffered a drug overdose earlier this month.
