Marc Cohn Plots First Album In Nine Years

Comments

Singer/songwriter Marc Cohn will release his first studio album in nine years, "Join the Parade," Oct. 9 via Decca. The project comes on the heels of the 2005 incident in Denver when he was shot in the head by a would-be carjacker.

Cohn says he was also inspired by Hurricane Katrina, which struck New Orleans shortly after he began his recovery from the shooting. "I've just had my own crisis and now I'm watching all these other people suffering even greater crisis' on television," he says. "And then something strange happened. It was like my songwriting receiver got flipped into the on position."

Produced by Charlie Sexton, "Join the Parade" is the follow-up to 1998's "Burning the Daze," Cohn's final album for Atlantic.

A tour in support of the new album is in the works for the fall.
