Mould Completes The 'Circle' With Live DVD

Comments

As tipped here in November, Bob Mould will release a live DVD, "Circle of Friends -- Live at 9:30," Oct. 9 via Trixie. The project captures Mould's October 2005 show at the 9:30 Club in his Washington, D.C., home base and was assembled by Brendan Canty, who also served as the drummer on that tour.

Mould performed Husker Du songs such as "Makes No Sense At All," "Celebrated Summer," "Chartered Trips" and "I Apologize" with a full band for the first time as a solo artist on that trek, all of which are captured on "Circle of Friends."

The track list also includes Sugar favorites like "Hoover Dam," "If I Can't Change Your Mind" and "A Good Idea" (a sample of which can be found on Trixie's Web site) and solo cuts such as "Egooverride" and "See a Little Light."

"That was show 21 out of the 25 shows, so we were on fire at that point," Mould told Billboard.com last year of the 9:30 Club gig. "That was about as tight as we were going to get without going through the motions. It was easily the best show of the tour."

Meanwhile, work continues on Mould's next solo album, although a release date has yet to be announced. "It's Brendan's opinion that it's a little more somber than the last record," Mould said. "He was like, 'This is some serious stuff!'"

The artist will perform solo on Saturday (July 7) during an indie rock blowout with Built To Spill and Cat Power at Brooklyn, N.Y.'s McCarren Park Pool.

Here is the track list for "Circle of Friends":
