U.K. singer/songwriter James Blunt, who came out of nowhere to score multi-platinum success with his 2005 debut album "Back to Bedlam," has set a Sept. 18 release date for its follow-up. The Custard/Atlantic set "All the Lost Souls" will be preceded July 23 by the single "1973."
Blunt recorded the album in Los Angeles with producer Tom Rothrock and his touring band. A number of the tracks have been part of Blunt's set for months, including "I Really Want You," "Same Mistake" and "Annie."
"I think on the first album I wrote really on my own or with my stuff in mind," he told Billboard.com last fall. "But I wrote very much thinking of myself as a singer/songwriter with a guitar and piano. Now I know that I have a chance of working with my band so with that in mind, I can hear things definitely [like] how a band may come in as I'm writing a song. It adds a little diversity."
The artist is gearing up for a July 7 performance at the London edition of Live Earth and is expected to tour in support of "All the Lost Souls" later this year.
