Label-less since the dissolution of V2 last year, Moby has signed a U.S. record deal with Mute, Billboard.com can reveal. The electronica veteran has recorded for Mute internationally since 1993.
Asked why he opted to ink with Mute U.S., Moby tells Billboard.com, "A: I live a few blocks from Mute u.s headquarters, B: the people at Mute U.S. are my friends, and C: the people at Mute U.S are smart and love music."
The artist has been working on his next studio album for the past year but has yet to announce a release date. The set will be the follow-up to 2005's "Hotel."
In the meantime, Moby has a few DJ gigs on tap for the summer, beginning tomorrow (June 15) at Nublu in New York, and continuing to Italy on July 27 (Naples), July 28 (Jesolo) and July 29 (Milan).
