Rihanna Tops Hot 100 And New Canadian Tally

Comments

After rocketing 42-1 last week, Rihanna's "Umbrella" begins a second week atop the Billboard Hot 100 and is also the first No. 1 on Billboard's new Canadian Hot 100 chart, which launches today (June 7). Shop Boyz' "Party Like a Rockstar" remains at No. 2 on the Hot 100 after zooming there from No. 51 last week.

T-Pain's "Buy U a Drank (Shawty Snappin')" featuring Yung Joc inches up 4-3, while Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry" rises 8-4, marking her fourth straight top 5 hit from her 2006 solo debut, "The Dutchess." The song is the greatest digital gainer on the Hot 100 for a second week, having sold 127,000 downloads (up 52%).

Maroon 5's former No. 1, "Makes Me Wonder," is down 3-5, while Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend" climbs 7-6. Daughtry's "Home" is down 5-7, as is Justin Timberlake's "Summer Love" (6-8). Huey's "Pop, Lock & Drop It" is up 10-9, and Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats" jumps 12-10 to round out the top tier.

Plain White T's "Hey There Delilah" climbs 27-16 after enjoying improved download sales each week since its debut four-plus months ago. The cut also sees a 45% spike in airplay as it is among the most added at mainstream and adult top 40 stations.

The Hot 100's top debut at No. 56 is India.Arie's "Beautiful Flower," which she wrote for the students at the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls. Also new is Timbaland's "The Way I Are" featuring Keri Hilson at No. 78, Kanye West's "Can't Tell Me Nothing" at No. 80 and Kat Deluna's "Whine Up" featuring Elephant Man at No. 91.

"Buy U a Drank" remains No. 1 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs for a sixth week. On that chart, former Destiny's Child member Kelly Rowland has her first top 10 hit as a lead artist as "Like This" featuring Eve climbs 13-7.

On Hot Country Songs, Emerson Drive's "Moments" moves 2-1, becoming the first independently distributed single to hit the country summit since Heartland's "I Loved Her First" last October. Kenny Chesney's "Never Wanted Nothing More" is the top debut at No. 37 despite just three days of airplay during the tracking week. It's the first single from his upcoming album, "Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates," for which there is no release date.

Enrique Iglesias' "Dimelo" is No. 1 for a third week on Hot Latin Songs. On Billboard's rock charts, Linkin Park isn't budging from the pole position, beginning a ninth week at No. 1 on Modern Rock and a sixth atop Mainstream Rock.
