Rilo Kiley Sets Date For Fourth Album

Comments

After a year-and-a-half hiatus to allow its members to pursue other music projects, indie pop group Rilo Kiley has wrapped a new album, "Under the Blacklight," due Aug. 21. It will be the band's first set for Warner Bros.

"Under the Blacklight" was produced by the band with Mike Elizondo and Jason Lader. Thematically, it revolves around the darker side of Rilo Kiley's Los Angeles homebase, according to a spokesperson. The set is the follow-up to 2004's "More Adventurous," which has sold a career-best 173,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Last year, frontwoman Jenny Lewis issued "Rabbit Fur Coat," her debut solo album featuring the Watson Twins, while singer/guitarist Blake Sennett released "Sun Sun Sun," with his other band the Elected.

"I wanted to write songs that rocked a little bit more and kind of had a more band feel to them," Lewis told Billboard.com in October while recording the upcoming album. "I was kind of longing for a more complicated approach, I guess."

The band's lone show at present as a Sept. 1 appearance at the Connect Music Festival in Inveraray, Scotland, alongside such acts as Bjork, Beastie Boys, the Jesus and Mary Chain and Modest Mouse.

Here is the track list for "Under the Blacklight":

"Silver Lining"
"Close Call"
"The Moneymaker"
"Breakin' Up"
"Under the Blacklight"
"Dreamworld"
"Dejalo"
"15"
"Smoke Detector"
"The Angel Hung Around"
"Give a Little Love"
