Ne-Yo Scores Second No. 1 In Debut-Heavy Week

Ne-Yo scores his second No. 1 album on The Billboard 200 as "Because of You" enters at the summit. Amid a heavy week for new releases, the Def Jam set moved 251,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan, fueled by its title track, which is No. 5 on the Hot 100. The R&B singer/songwriter's debut album, "In My Own Words," moved 301,000 copies in its first week last February and has sold 1.4 million to date.

Jazz singer Michael Buble earns his highest charting and best sales week yet with "Call Me Irresponsible" (143/Reprise), which opens at No. 2 with 212,000. His last studio set, 2005's "It's Time," debuted at No. 7 with 93,000.

Enduring Canadian rock trio Rush's first studio effort in five years, "Snakes & Arrows" bows at No. 3. The Anthem/Atlantic set moved 93,000 units and is the group's 27th album to impact the Billboard 200. Rush's highest charting set remains 1993's "Counterparts," which scored No. 2.

Avril Lavigne's "The Best Damn Thing" (RCA) slips to No. 4 after two weeks on top, moving 86,000 copies (a -29% sales decrease). Tori Amos' "American Doll Posse" (Epic) debuts at No. 5 with 54,000, her sixth top 10 record. The artist's last album, 2005's "The Beekeeper," also entered at No. 5 but with 83,000.

Young country star Miranda Lambert's sophomore set "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" (Columbia) has a No. 6 start, moving 53,000, and also crowns the Top Country Albums tally. "Kerosene," her 2005 debut, bowed at No. 18 on the big chart.

Daughtry's self-titled RCA album slips 5-7 in its 24th week on the chart with 50,000 (+3%). Country singer Blake Shelton's fourth set, "Pure BS," (Warner Bros.) begins at No. 8 with 48,000. It's the follow-up to 2004's "Blake Shelton's Barn & Grill," which debuted and peaked at No. 20.

The "NOW 24" hits compilation slides 4-9 with 46,000 (-16%) while Carrie Underwood's "Some Hearts" (Arista Nashville) falls 8-10 in its 77th week on the chart. Two of last week's major debuts also take significant tumbles; Joe's "Ain't Nothing Like Me" (Jive) slides 2-14 on a 66.1% drop to 33,000, while Arctic Monkeys' "Favourite Worst Nightmare" (Domino) crashes 7-37 with a 59.4% slide to 18,000.

Canadian vocalist Feist earns her first Billboard 200 ink with her sophomore album, "The Reminder" (CherryTree/Interscope) at No. 16 with 31,000. Other big debuts this week include Disney's "High School Musical: The Concert" at No. 28 with 22,000, the alt-rock soundtrack to "Spider-Man 3" (Record Collection) at No. 33 with 21,000, Disney star Corbin Bleu's "Another Side" at No. 36 with 18,000 and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club's "Baby 81" (RCA) at No. 46 with 14,000.

Album sales are up 9.6% from last week's total at 8.43 million units and down 16.2% compared to the same week last year. Overall sales are down 16.7% compared to last year at 160 million units.
