The free in-store concert series starts Sunday (April 15) in Chicago with the Klaxons, and wraps June 11 in Boston with Dinosaur Jr. Free Yr Radio will hit four additional as-yet-unannounced markets through July 21. Additional acts will be announced shortly.
The tour was conceived through a brand partnership between Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. and Urban Outfitters in an effort to support non-commercial radio. Each gig will be co-presented by a non-commercial station, which will receive proceeds from a Free Yr Radio compilation CD to be released at the end of campaign. In addition, participating stations will give away a new Toyota Yaris to a listener.
Individual show invites can be printed from the Free Yr Radio Web site.
Participating stations include WLUW (Chicago), KTRU (Houston), KEXP (Seattle), Y-Rock On XPN (Philadelphia), KZSC (Santa Cruz, Calif.), 89.3 The Current (Minneapolis), WERS (Boston), WKNC (Raleigh/Durham, N.C.) WBWC (Cleveland) and KGNU (Boulder, Colo.).
