Billboard Bits: Meg & Dia, VH1 Rock Honors, Hollywood Bowl

Comments

Sibling rock act Meg & Dia has joined forces with Warner Bros. for marketing and distribution of its debut album, "So Real." The group remains signed to Doghouse, which issued the album last fall. This is the second Doghouse artist upstreamed to Warner Bros., following the Honorary Title.

Meg & Dia were recently included in MTV's "Discover and Download" initiative and are now on the road with Anberlin and Bayside. This summer, the group will headline the Volcom stage on the Vans Warped Tour, beginning June 28.

"Our deal allows us to initiate an upstream whenever the label and myself are interested," Doghouse head Dirk Hemsath tells Billboard.com. "It's not really contingent on any sort of sales level. I decided it was a good time to take on the extra power of having Warner Bros. involved."

Genesis, Heart, Ozzy Osbourne and ZZ Top will be feted at the second VH1 Rock Honors, which will be taped May 12 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. Highlights will air May 21 on VH1. The performance lineup has yet to be announced.

Last year's inaugural honors featured Kiss, Queen, Def Leppard and Judas Priest, plus performances by Foo Fighters, Godsmack and the All-American Rejects.

The 2007 summer season spans 14 weeks from June 22 to Sept. 30. The season also includes presentations from the Los Angeles Philharmonic and weekend shows with the Philharmonic and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra.

Other concerts at the venue this summer include Christian McBride, Gil Shaham, Jamie Cullum, Groove Armada, Sumi Jo, Thomas Hampson, Gladys Knight, Isaac Hayes, Jurassic 5, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Daryl Hall & John Oates, Cafe Tacuba and Dave Brubeck.
