The Fray Extending 'Life' With Summer Tour

Comments

As tipped here in December, the Fray will close out the touring cycle for its million-selling debut, "How To Save a Life," with a summer amphitheatre run. The outing begins June 11 in Minneapolis and will conclude with an Aug. 4-5 stand at Red Rocks just outside the band's Denver homebase.

OK Go and Mae will open through July 1, while Eisley and Gomez will take over from there until July 21. Meese will be joined by an as-yet-unannounced opener through the tour's conclusion.

"There are two different battles you're waging when you play that size of a venue," vocalist/pianist Isaac Slade told Billboard.com about the band's jump to arenas and amphitheatres. "One is just getting through it and not freaking out and peeing your pants. We've actually gotten to the point where we're all pretty comfortable. But the trick is capturing everybody's attention for that long in such a big place."

"How To Save a Life" has sold 1.9 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It has already spawned two top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100; a third single, "Look After You," is No. 81 in its second week on the Pop 100.

The Fray already has a head start on album number two, which it plans to begin recording before the end of the year. The band has been playing three new songs at recent shows: "Uncertainty," "Absolute" and "Happiness."
