Leona Lewis, the winner of the Dec. 16 final of talent series "The X Factor," duly took her place as the U.K.'s Christmas No. 1 with the single "A Moment Like This" (Syco Music) on Christmas Eve. The track ended Take That's four-week run at the top with "Patience" (Polydor) but the pop quartet had the consolation of securing the Christmas No. 1 album, as "Beautiful World" started a fourth week at the summit.

Lewis reached her much-anticipated goal after attracting almost five million votes in the final of the series. The 21-year-old former office worker hit the peak with her cover of the song with which Kelly Clarkson won the first "American Idol" in 2002.

There were two other notable new entries on the festive singles list, both by chart regulars. Boy band McFly's "Sorry's Not Good Enough"(Universal Island) opened at No. 3, followed by Girls Aloud's "I Think We're Alone Now" (Fascination/Polydor) at No. 4. The perennial "Fairytale of New York" (Warner Bros.) by the Pogues featuring Kirsty MacColl climbed 10-6, while Razorlight's "Before I Fall To Pieces" (Mercury(, which debuted at No. 46 last week on download sales, climbed after physical release to No. 17.

On the album chart, Take That led the way ahead of Westlife's "The Love Album" (S/Sony BMG), which spends the holiday in the runner-up spot after moving back 3-2 in its fifth chart week. George Michael's "Twenty Five" compilation (Aegean/Sony BMG) was a beneficiary of gift purchasing with a 9-5 climb, while the Scissor Sisters' "Ta-Dah" (Polydor) moved 11-10 in the week that it sold its millionth copy in the U.K.

The Beatles' "Love" (Apple) will spend Christmas at No. 1 on European Top 100 Albums, after starting a fourth week atop the composite sales chart. The Take That single is in its fourth week leading the Eurochart Hot 100 Singles survey.
