Stars Descend On Las Vegas For Billboard Music Awards

Comments

Dress rehearsal is about to get underway for the 2006 Billboard Music Awards, to be handed out tonight (Dec. 4) live on Fox from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Newly added to the performance lineup is Kid Rock, who will be joined by ZZ Top's Billy F Gibbons, Nickelback and special guests for a rendition of a boogie rock classic.

Yesterday, the Fray brought fans up close and personal to the stage while it rehearsed its smash hit "How To Save a Life," while Fergie frolicked on a confectionary-themed set as she ran through "Fergalicious."

In the evening, rappers Ludacris, Young Jeezy and Pharrell rehearsed their collaboration, which is woven through with an homage to the cult classic film "The Wiz." There was a brief scare when some onstage pyrotechnics began to smoke a bit too heavily, but nobody was injured. Pharrell even joked, "Are you trying to kill me?"

As previously reported, Nickelback, Rascal Flatts, T.I. and Blige lead the field of award finalists with five each. Tonight's show will also feature performances from Janet Jackson, Mary J. Blige and Gwen Stefani.
