Kylie Minogue To Resume Tour In November

Comments

Kylie Minogue will resume the 20-date Australian leg of her Showgirl tour in November, her promoter Frontier Touring Company said today (June 22).

The London-based, Australian-born singer cancelled the tour on May 17, 2005, after being diagnosed with breast cancer. Patrons were asked to hold on to their tickets.

The rescheduled set of dates, now titled the Showgirl Homecoming tour, begin Nov. 11 at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. The tour will conclude Dec. 17 at Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena.

Speaking at a media gathering in Melbourne today, Frontier Touring managing director Michael Gudinski said Minogue's health was on the up. "I spent the weekend with Kylie. She's looking great. She's definitely through the worst of everything," he said.

"Obviously she has still got a few mountains to climb, but we are very very confident that the tour will be going ahead in November," he added.

Minogue's illness has increased her icon status in Australia and the United Kingdom. There was speculation ahead of today's announcement that Frontier would add open-air shows in Australia to cater for additional demand. But Gudinski tells Billboard.com no extra shows will be scheduled.

He did, however, confirm that Minogue was working on new recordings. "She's actually recording in the studio and working on songs as we speak," he said.
