Destiny's Child principal Beyoncé has set Sept. 5 as the U.S. release date for her sophomore solo effort "B'Day," due via Music World Music/Sony Urban Music/Columbia. The set will be issued worldwide on Sept. 4, Beyoncé's 25th birthday.
The singer co-produced, wrote and arranged all the tracks on the new offering. Co-producers include Rich Harrison, the Neptunes and Swizz Beatz. The first single is "Déja vu" featuring Jay-Z and co-produced by Rodney Jerkins.
Beyoncé completed the album after wrapping her role in the upcoming film "Dreamgirls," due in theaters on Dec. 22. Loosely based on the pop female group the Supremes, the movie co-stars Jamie Foxx, Eddie Murphy and Danny Glover.
In January, Beyoncé told Billboard.com, "I'm not going to write for the album until I finish doing the movie. I've never been so excited about a movie in my life. I want to give 100 percent to this film, because I know I was born for this role." The singer is also featured on the film soundtrack -- her first joint venture with Sony Urban Music/Columbia Records under the Music World Music imprint.
"B'Day" will be the follow-up to Beyoncé's 2003 solo debut "Dangerously In Love" (Sony Urban Music/Columbia), which bowed atop The Billboard 200 and has sold 4.3 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The disc won five 2004 Grammy Awards, tying the record for the most Grammys won in a single year by a female artist.
