Jamie Foxx leads the field with five nominations for the 2006 BET Awards. Mary J. Blige, Missy Elliott and Busta Rhymes are tied at four nominations each. Now in its sixth year, the ceremony will shift from the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles to the neighboring Shrine Auditorium when the live telecast airs June 27. Comedian/actor Damon Wayans will host for the first time.

Additional multiple nominees include Kanye West and Mariah Carey, as well as hot newcomers Chris Brown, Keyshia Cole and Ne-Yo. Legendary vocalist Chaka Khan is this year's BET Lifetime Achievement Award honoree, while singer/actor/activist Harry Belafonte will receive the BET Humanitarian Award.

In honor of the relaunched adult-oriented sister network BET J (formerly BET Jazz), a new award has been added: the BET J Cool Like That Award. Among the nominees in that category is U.K. newcomer Corinne Bailey Rae.
