Streets, Gnarls Barkley Rule U.K. Charts

Comments

The Streets' third album "The Hardest Way To Make An Easy Living" (679/Locked On) yesterday (April 16) became the second U.K. No. 1 set for the recording alter ego of Mike Skinner. Featuring the top 10 single "When You Wasn't Famous," the album debuted at No. 1 to repeat the success of 2004's "A Grand Don't Come For Free."

On the singles chart, Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy" (Warner Bros.) is No. 1 for a third week. It withstood the challenge of former "X Factor" winner Shayne Ward's second hit "No Promises" (Syco Music), which arrived at No. 2. Rihanna's "SOS" (Def Jam) came in at No. 5.

There were top 20 entries for London rock band Hard-Fi's "Better Do Better" (Necessary/Atlantic) at No. 14 and "Here We Go" (Atlantic) by Trina featuring Kelly Rowland at No. 15. Additionally, "Unpredictable" (J) by Jamie Foxx featuring Ludacris came in at No. 16, followed by Michael Jackson's Dual Disc reissue of "Smooth Criminal" (Epic) at No. 19.

Elsewhere on the album chart, south of England-based rockers the Kooks reached a new peak with "Inside In/Inside Out" (Virgin) as it climbed 5-3. New Zealand-born classical singer Hayley Westenra, who now lives in London, came in at No. 16 with her Decca album "Odyssey." Veteran American country/easy listening singer Don Williams posted a No. 27 entry with "The Definitive Don Williams -- His Greatest Hits" (UMTV).

Pink leads Billboard's European Top 100 Albums chart, as "I'm Not Dead" (LaFace/Zomba) enters at No. 1, while the new No. 1 on the Eurochart Hot 100 Singles tally is Sean Paul's "Temperature" (VP/Atlantic), which races 8-1.
